Home Grain Mills

On Common Sense Homesteading is a great post about getting started with a home grain mill. A grain mill is a machine that will grind up foods into a powder, for example, wheat into flour. Modern home grain mills can be either electric or hand powered. They are made from a variety of materials and can grind a wide variety of foods. Modern grain mills are typically quite durable and portable. The post discusses the following reasons why you might want a grain mill.
  • Freshly ground flour provides better nutrition.
  • You can be more self-sufficient (now and during emergencies).
  • You can have more uses for the materials you grow yourself.

Common Sense Homesteading suggests three grain mills.
