Bugging Out vs. Hunkering Down

Over on Doom and Bloom, there is a post entitled Bugging Out vs. Hunkering Down. It's an age old discussion among preppers. Usually in every discussion, a consensus is reached that "it depends on the situation." This post also comes to the same conclusion, however, it points out that there are relatively few scenarios where bugging out would be the better option. The golden nugget of the post is the following sentences:
"You need to weigh the risks of bugging out vs. hunkering down and make your final decision based on logic and type of threat. That’s the way decisions should be made, unfortunately many people when making plans for survival side with emotion (that emotion being to run and hide) instead of the more tried and true form of decision-making known as logic."
The problem with preppers is this: we are supper excited to get to use our preps...and who doesn't have a bug-out-bag! We want to use it! Bugging-out sounds like a great adventure with our all equipped bug-out-bag. But this is an emotional decision. Bugging out may be the right decision sometimes, but just make sure it is the logical decision as well. And don't worry, I'm sure you will have plenty of preps to use if you hunker down, even if it doesn't seem quite as exciting.

  1. I have a question.. I live in a semi rural community in Southern Michigan; and my fiance and I have been building B.O.B. We would like to test them; but have no idea where we could go to do so. And if it came down to where to go if we HAD to leave the best place to go. Any suggestions?
