10 Must-Have Items for a Bug Out Bag
Over on the Canadian Preppers Network is a post listing 10 must-have items for your Bug Out Bag.
Here are the 10 things that you should have in a bug out bag for everyone in your family:
10. Blankets
Forget large bulky blankets. Go with the space or foil blankets. They are lightweight and don't take up much space at all. They will also keep you warm.
9. Extra Clothes
If you are out in the elements there is a good chance you could face moisture or cold. An extra set of clothes could be the difference in living or freezing to death.
8. Battery Powered Radio
In an emergency situations, staying informed on what is happening is extremely important.
7. Cash
Many emergency situation that would cause you to need your bug out bag may also result in the power grid being down. If this is the case, you won't be able to use credit cards. You're going to need some cash.
6. Flashlight
Not only will a flashlight help you see in the dark, but it can also be used to signal others.
5. Flint
If you're in a situation where you need your bug out bag, your probably going to need fire too.
4. Water
You're going to need water to survive. Water is heavy though, so you may consider packing some way to filter and purify water.
3. Food
Find foods that are light, store well, will give you enough calories to function in an emergency situation.
2. Shelter
Not necessarily a tent, but definitely a tarp or something to keep the rain off.
1. First Aid Kit
A first aid kit should at least provide basic aid for cuts, scrapes and something for infections
